Korigad Fort near Lonavala is one of the easiest and most rewarding monsoon treks around Pune and Mumbai. A well-laid stone stairway from Peth Shahpur village takes you to a flat hilltop crowned with two lakes, the Korai Devi temple and almost fully intact ramparts you can walk end to end. In the rains the plateau turns into a green carpet wrapped in moving clouds, with views over Aamby Valley, Tung and Tikona. It's short enough for absolute beginners and beautiful enough for anyone who loves the mountains — which makes it the perfect Wanderhythm weekend escape for solo travellers, friends, couples, college students, corporate employees and anyone craving a break from the city.
